Ok, I'm having major problems trying to figure out how to use the "quickenings". They just don't seem to do any damage. :?

DKK- 12-16-2006

you gotta push triangle, square or "x" then the bar along the bottom of the screen will start over and you'll get a chance to do it again...if none of them pop up quickly press R2 until one does (you may have to hit it twice, once to charge the quickening and then once again to use it) highest chain I've had was 10 and that was with all grade one quickenings...two of those took out the optional and much harder demon wall in raithwall's tomb.

Thanks! I'm starting to get used to it now. :D

Final Fantasy XII is Edge's game of the year "Final Fantasy XII, the latest instalment in Square Enix's legendary RPG series, has been named the winner of the prestigious ‘Best Game’ category in the 2006 Edge Awards. Having reviewed the US version of the game in November, Edge awarded the game 9/10 and described it as ‘beautiful, engrossing and impeccably polished… a work of progressive genius’. Final Fantasy XII is released in the UK on PS2 in early 2007." LINK Any thoughts?

54 hours into the game, just reached the Phon Coast. Also, I've found a very good strategy to help with tougher bosses, the trick being: Protective spells don't fade on out of party characters. At a save crystal, cast Protect, Shell, Haste, Bubble, Regen... On your main three characters and then switch them out for the other three. Go on to fight the boss/mark/esper and when your party gets wiped out... Bring up your *real* party, already buffed with all the good spells. Piece of cake.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere on the forums, but I just read that FF XII will be seeing a European release date of February 23. Just thought a couple of you might like to know that. :)

It will be well worth the wait, trust me! :) I believe it has actually taken over FF8 as my favourite, and that's saying alot. And as weird as the battle system seems to be at first, it's the best one so far. :)

okay so heres a question for those of you who have played through most of the game... last time I played through I mangled up all of the weapons my guys could use...I had Fran as a melee fighter, Balthier using bows and penelo using whatever game her more magic power :P Is it smart? I found later (30 hours or so into the game Balthier was lackluster and fran was about useless...I was thinking about going more straight line with it this time around and maybe putting basch on a two handed melee weapon but otherwise keeping it generally the same where as I gave a bunch of people hammers and axes last time that didnt work out really due to lack of consistent attack power. Any thoughts or suggestions?

What I did (and it seemed to work for me) is have two parties of three. I don't know how far you've gotten, so I won't spoil anything by giving you names. One party consisted of Vaan, Balthier and Fran. The other was Penelo, and two others. Fran was always my mage. I kept her equipped with a bow throughout most of the game - that way, she can stay out of the midst of the battle and not get hit as much, but she can still heal everyone. Vaan, I always equipped with the strongest weapon I have, usually a one-handed sword, and Balthier, I'd give the hammer/axe. I repeated this with my second party - Penelo being my main healer. One thing though, I do have everybody able to heal. I found that if you rely on one person to heal, and you get ambushed, you die pretty quickly. Have everyone learn Cure, then Cura, a little later. :)

I think I'm over-licensing :P I took a couple of extra trips through the lhusu mines and ended up with battle chains of well over 200 each time :P oh and Gil Snapper? RIDICULOUS!!!! how often do the rains happen on the Giza plains? I need to know when I'll be able to come back to beat that thing if I decide to temporarily give up on it.

ControlFreak- 02-02-2007

Yeah, I had difficulty with that one. I ended up waiting to do most of the mark hunting very near to the end of the game. Some of them are ridiculously hard, even then. :?

DKK- 02-02-2007

well I figured but if I can get some of them done earlier there are some way nice rewards if you do them early enough like armor that is a license or two above what you can currently buy at the time :) Anyway I may give it another go round on monday when I get to play games again but then again I may just carry on with the game since I'm ridiculously over licensed...I mean I can take down the silicone tortoises which are level 37 and I'm sitting at level 22 right now :P

Consumption of Darkness- 02-09-2007

I loved this game, but I think I went through it a bit to fast. At the end three of my characters where almost 60, while everyone else was sitting around 15. That caused 'alot' of problems. I can't even begin to imagine sitting around to get a 200 chain, i've only made it to around the low 60's. I haven't had much problem with the marks, but then, I've only taken on like 12 or so of them. Well I've beaten the game, and I have only one question, anyone got any tips on beating Zeromus, cause I've tried about everything I can think of aside from maxing my characters, and I don't want to resort to a walkthrough/strat guide until I start my next save. I still liked 8 more though, but this games falls just beneath it, maybe I'll find more on my next run-through to boost 12 in rank. It kinda reminds me of PE's controls as well, except that you can't really dodge attacks in this as you could in PE, but 12s system seems to run a bit faster and smoother, but, it's on the PS2, so thats to be expected. Can wait for 13 now.

I don't think I beat him. I'm planning on playing it through again though, so I'll let you know how I get on. :D ** Possible spoilers** I was kind of disappointed at how easy the final boss was, though. I got him on my second try. And I only used three of my six characters.
