RE: Old vs. New
I have been thinking about this topic for years now and have just never posted it. Basically it goes like this. I have played all the RE games except Umbrella Chronicles and if I had to opine I would say this: RE gets more and more lame as time goes by. Of course this is my opinion, but that is how I feel. The feel is gone and Capcom is making no attempt to get it back. Does this make me old? Probably. But I'll break it down for you and maybe you will see my side. 1. Resident Evil is released and I am tripping out because I have never played anything this cool in my life. 2. Resident Evil 2 is released and I am expecting the worst but I get the greatest game of all time. It is unbelievable and probably the happiest gaming period in my life. 3. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis is released and it isn't quite as good as RE2 but it is still a great game and my happy gaming trend is still in full swing. 4. Code Veronica is released and I am tripping over how good the graphics are but the game is a little better than ok. It isn't great, but the graphics make up for it. 5. Resident Evil: REmake is released and I can't believe how great the graphics are yet how un-entertaining it really is. I still considered the original PSX release to be better considering the time it came out and the technology available at the time (and let's not forget originality). 6. Resident Evil 0 is released and I get about a third of the way into and I am bored to fucking tears and never touch it again. 7. Resident Evil 4 is released. Wow, what an amusing little shooter. What a suckass Resident Evil game. 8. I can't even continue... So my conclusion is this: I'll take the old school RE over the new stuff any day. I can still pick up RE2 and enjoy the hell out of it. I cannot say that for the later stuff. Care to opine or discuss?
