Unlike most other games, I actually played these in order!
So yeah, my first Silent Hill game was - uh - Silent Hill.
Which one did you play first?
Same here, I played them all in order starting with the first. I remember reading a pre-game preview about SH 1 that stated that Silent Hill was a lame knock-off of the Resident Evil games. What a bunch of crap, I don't think they even played the game for 15 minutes to make that outrageous assumption.
I think I played these in order, in fact I'm sure I did. SH1 was definitely the first I played anyway, borrowed ii from my mums boyfriends son, well, I say borrowed....
Anyway I was only like 11 or something at the time and it freaked me out, I didn't actually complete til a couple of years after! I remember as well...

When you die at the beginning, I was like... "OKAY, what did I do wrong?! I couldn't kill them!! This is so unfair!!!" Really baffled me.

RE: your spoiler comment - YES. I was confused to the point of rebooting the PS1.
I started with SH 2. I gotta admit I never played SH1 as much as I should've.

Haha, I don't think I did that, I think I just sat there in shock mumbling "what the hell did I do wrong?!" to myself until the FMV started and I was relived.
You should play SH1 more Stevo, it is really good, great graphics for the time in my opinion. Really dark stuff going on in it too of course.

The demo of Silent Hill 1 that came with Metal Gear Solid in the UK, I was somewhat annoyed that they replaced the ghost babies in the school for the proper release so I ended up buying the American import too. After that have played them in order as they came out. Still haven't played Origins or Homecoming though.

Yeah, I don't get why they changed them. Europe always ends up with daft stuff like that!
Silent Hill 3 for PC was my first.
I finished it and went out and bought a PS2 and the entire SH trilogy (at the time) in one day.
Yes, I bought a PS2 just for Silent Hill (although I've found lots of other games for it I like since then).
I completely missed the PS1/N64/Dreamcast generation, which is why I never played Silent Hill or Resident Evil when they were new. I didn't own a console since my SNES until I got a Gamecube years later.
