Question about Pyramid Head.
#1
K, so, if I understood right...Pyramid Head is supposed to be the symbolism that represents James's subconscious wish to be punished for what he did to his wife, right?

But, we learn that Pyramid Head, or the costume it has anyway, is actually what executioners back in the older days of Silent Hill looked like. So of course it's fitting that it would be him to punish James.

But what I don't get is, Silent Hill is different depending on who goes in the town and how messed up they are in the head, so to speak.

So how come James has Pyramid Head chasing him around to punish him, when he didn't know who or what it was before he went over to the Silent Hill Historical place?
I mean, Angela just sees her dad when James sees monsters, right? But she already knew who it was, since she's always lived there, and with her dad.
So even though James doesn't come from SH, and has only been there on vacation before, why does he see him?

I guess it doesn't really matter, I mean something or someone has to punish James, but shouldn't it have been something he knew about?

And another question..this particular PH, because there are plenty, well two more anyways, is only nicknamed Pyramid Head. But does this manifestation have an actual name? Or is it just based off of the executioners from long ago?

They might have said so in the game.

James and Mary went to the Historical Society on their "vacation" there, when Mary wanted James to bring her back to Silent Hill. The painting was there at the time and James saw it.

The HS is very close to the hotel where James and Mary stayed. As tourists, they would visit the HS.

The image of the executioner has been within Silent Hill for a very long time, even before the HS existed. The painting is a depiction of the executioners.

Well that makes sense, it's just that when James saw the picture when you go there, he looked kind of surprised, like as if he never saw it before.
You know like, as if it was put there for him to see at that time.

James is not in his "right" mind during his trip to Silent Hill that we are privy to. He does not remember killing his wife, he does not remember her being in the trunk of the car. He "wakes" in the bathroom at the overlook thinking it is years after Mary died.

Everything is "new" to him again as his mind has completely shut off the remembrance of the past few weeks.

*Smacks forehead.*

Of course. Yeah, I knew about him not remembering what he did to his wife, that he's seeking punishement but he doesn't know about it. But WHY did I not think of his mind closing everything off? They even explain it in the end.

Well that's it, I need to go through this game again, heh.
