What are your favorite scary books?

The best horror book I ever read is "Ten Disturbing Short Stories from Maine" by Andy Reven.

Has anyone passed, without codes/hacks/devices, the horror house hallway section on Hard mode?

I had a hard enough time getting through it on the normal level. I started a hard playthrough but once I remembered the hallway with the red light I figured I was never going to make it so why bother.

In the song "Letter - From The Lost Days" it is mentioned that Heather/Cheryl (as voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn on the soundtrack) wonders if she is still friends with Coleen.

Now, Konami and Akira Yamaoka are not known for arbitrarily throwing stuff into the Silent Hill mythos just for kicks.

Since the song is from Cheryl's point of view looking into the future, who is Coleen? Is she a classmate? Is she possibly the sister of Andy, the neighbor boy from the play novel? Perhaps just a friend on the block? Family member of Harry's (such as a "cousin" to Cheryl/Heather)?

Any thoughts?

Do you guys think that Silent Hill is an actual place or just a place that exists whenever someone is called there? I think that its an actual place that turns into hell for those who are called there. What do you guys believe it is?

Hi, I really just want to play Silent Hill 2 (never played it before) but the PS2 version is way outside my price range and I don't have an Xbox. The HD collection is pretty cheap and I have a PS3 but I've seen a lot of people online saying that it's horrible and the worst way to play it. Is it really that bad though? Like would it still be fine for a first time player or is it just totally broken? Thanks 

I was looking at some online secrets for Silent Hill 4, and found out that, if done at the right time, you can heal Eileen with candles. I did it at the exact moments I was supposed to and, to my surprise, it worked extremely well! She walked so slow to the machine in the final battle, I actually had to slow down and wait for her to get there to get the "eileen's Death" ending. Even though I was dissappointed with the ending, I was very pleased with the trick.

What you do is, at two points in "Outside Room 302" world (I think it is when you see the book on the floor in the main stairwell and near the umbilical cord in the Super's room), set a candle directly in front of her and let it burn until it is almost out before doing another action (in the stairwell, you run out of the room; in the Super's room, you select the Umbilical cord). It is supposed to heal her drastically, and it actually worked for me.

Has anyone else tried this? If so, did it work for you?

Apparently (though I've never tried this) if you walk to the end of the road past the historical society in SH2 you find a bowling ball. Since I haven't done this yet I don't know whether you can pick it up and no one who has supposedly seen the bowling ball can remember.
I've tried looking for info on this on numerous walkthroughs, etc, but haven't turned up anything.
If anyone knows what the purpose is of the bowling ball/whether you can pick it up, that would be great. 

I've heard a bit about the theory that Silent Hill is based on actual towns. What real towns was Silent Hill based on?

Has anyone played through the game all the way to extreme X? How hard was it? Just curious.

Ookay, I've been stuck on this game too long...
How do you capture the ghost of the woman who jumps? Ya know, the one that pops up outside after the dollroom battle? I can't bring my camera up fast enough to take the shot. Aaand on top of that, how do I fight Broken Neck (thats the ghost of the woman who jumps)? I keep getting caught on the stairs.
