Cheryl's "birth" |

I haven't come up with a conclusoin about Cheryl's "birth" yet. Was it Dahlia that gave birth to another child? Was it Alessa that split herself in two?
Depending on what theory you choose to believe, the purposes for calling Cheryl to town are slightly different:
- Dahlia gave birth to another child: the ritual with Alessa went wrong and Samael was not complete.
- Alessa split herself in two: the ritual with Alessa was a succesful one, but now half of Samael is missing.
Moreover, the way in which baby Cheryl was left in the outskirts of the town also varies. If Dahlia had another child it was probably Lisa who did it. If Alessa split herself in two it was probably herself who "magically" placed the baby on the road.
I feel inclined to believe the latter. In Nowhere, where there are four people surrounding Alessa's sick bed, one of them says: "But it's not done yet. Half the soul is lost. That is why the seed lies dormant."
Anyway... what do you think?

Anyone else wish they would have expanded upon the mall in Silent Hill 1? I thought it was an ingenious move to include it in the game.
It is almost a tribute to George A. Romero and Dawn of the Dead, where Romero makes commentary about society from within a mall.
I think that, like Silent Hill 3, it could have been an even more amazing place to explore and create some truly horrific sequences.

Endings... |

It's been brought up that, unlike all the other Silent Hill games, 3 has an underwhelming number of ending. SH1 had 5, SH2 had I believe 6, and SH4 had 4. SH3 had a total of 3, and that's WITH one of them being the fun albiet completely ridiculous UFO ending.
If you take the UFO ending to be the correct ending of SH3, that means you basically take the UFO ending to be the correct ending for ALL the SH games. Not that you couldn't make a case out of it, but I haven't heard anyone make an interesting or semi-coherent case out of it since the first game.
That leaves two endings left. Someone stated that there are few happy endings in SH; even the apparent good ending from the first game was only a brief respite from the town for Harry and Heather. Despite all our best efforts (I played that first game some fifteen times, those bastards), Harry was dead. SH is not a fan of good triumphing over evil.
The "Heather" ending is the easiest to get, and basically the first one you get everytime through. In it, Heather sneaks up on Douglas, threatens to kill him (which is just the kind of situation you want to f*** around in), and then they leave together, presumably as SH turns back to normal.
Does this ending strike anyone else as somewhat, I don't know...strange? I've heard us youth are supposed to have tremendous recovery powers from traumatic events or whatever, but Heather's kind of chipper seems to be not quite the strong front it should, but really more of a genuine sense of happiness.
I bring that up to bring this up. At the end of the "Possessed" ending, the only other ending in this game, Heather becomes possessed much like Cybil from the first game, and kills Douglas.
And before either the Heather or Possessed ending, right after killing the final boss and Heather's emotional breakdown over her father and everything else, she walks away but pauses for a second, sensing something, and looks behind her. And sees...
We don't know what the hell she sees. But, given the minimum number of endings, several other elements from the game, and the fact that no matter which ending you get, Heather always sees SOMETHING right before the end, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Heather is possessed NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. That's the true ending, and something which will have to come up in a future game. If you get "Heather", she's faking it and trying to act human, and if you get "Possessed", the true demon comes out and she kills Douglas basically out of spite.
I intend to try to prove this in a new thread later. I just had to get that out there because it's been driving me crazy. I don't think there's any other answer, and if you guys disagree, let me know why so I can try to prepare a defense.

Evil heather...? |

In the bit in the church at the end, that guy, I forget his name, makes a comment about Heather saying something like, "You enjoy killing them, don't you?" then Heather says no i'm killing monsters or something then he says "They look like monsters to you?!" then says maybe he's joking.
Does that mean Heather is walking around normal Silent Hill and the monsters are really people that she's killing or something?

Parasites |

All of the monsters in the first game are obviously manifestations of Alessa, from the Mumblers to her memory of Lisa. However, the doctors and nurses are different in that they seem to be real people who have been converted by parasites which enter and possess them through the spine.
So are the nurses real people who got sucked into the alternate dimension? Is it Alessa or Dahlia that controls the parasites? And, if the nurses are real people, do they rematerialize as dead bodies in the real world once killed, or was Alchemilla simply rocked by a mysterious disappearance of the ENTIRE hospital staff? Who is responsible for Cybil's possession and why? And how come Kauffman never got possessed? Any theories on this strange occurrence would be greatly appreciated.

Question about Pyramid Head. |

K, so, if I understood right...Pyramid Head is supposed to be the symbolism that represents James's subconscious wish to be punished for what he did to his wife, right?
But, we learn that Pyramid Head, or the costume it has anyway, is actually what executioners back in the older days of Silent Hill looked like. So of course it's fitting that it would be him to punish James.
But what I don't get is, Silent Hill is different depending on who goes in the town and how messed up they are in the head, so to speak.
So how come James has Pyramid Head chasing him around to punish him, when he didn't know who or what it was before he went over to the Silent Hill Historical place?
I mean, Angela just sees her dad when James sees monsters, right? But she already knew who it was, since she's always lived there, and with her dad.
So even though James doesn't come from SH, and has only been there on vacation before, why does he see him?
I guess it doesn't really matter, I mean something or someone has to punish James, but shouldn't it have been something he knew about?
And another question..this particular PH, because there are plenty, well two more anyways, is only nicknamed Pyramid Head. But does this manifestation have an actual name? Or is it just based off of the executioners from long ago?
They might have said so in the game.

James's real reason... |

I will probably suffer ass rippage for this but.....
You know how you get the In Water ending? James claims: "Now I know the real reason why I came here, what was I afraid of?". Know....most people would say "Well, since it's an alternate ending, how do you know it just wasn't a convenient line just for the ending?"
Well...notice how in all ending in almost every SH game, they show some truth to it? Like without saving Cybil with the Koolaid, you wouldn't have known Cheryl was adopted and the Mark of Samael was actually the Seal of Metraton. Also, without killing Incubator, the player also wouldn't have known Incubator was a vision of God.
So why not in SH2? I'm not saying James goes through with it but that was his original reason. Facts we find out from each ending are...
Maria: James does have subconscious feelings for Maria and we also find out that Maria has the same disease as Mary.
Rebirth: James has knowledge of SH's Ancient Gods.
In Water: James's real reason he came to SH was to end his life.
Leave: James has a subconscious hatred for Mary and wanted to move on with his life.
Dog: Everything was the work of the Dog all along...
UFO: .....?
SO yea...I think it's apparent James's real reason he came to Silent Hill was to end his life but in all the other endings he either forgets about it or finds a new reason to live.

I've asked this question on other SH fansites and nobody can give me an answer ^__^ ... Anyways, who is Alessa's father? Is he even mentioned in the game(s)? I've always had a feeling it was Kauffman. Any theories?

Anyone know what James says as he kneels before the dog in the weird ending? I know it is Japanese, but I have not been able to find this bit of information.
