Born From A Wish (Maria Scenario)
Posted by: Spider - 03-13-2024, 08:14 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 2 - Replies (6)

After my PS2 had started ruining discs and Sony so generously fixed it for free and sent me a check for all of the games it ruined, I picked up the Greatest Hits V.2 to replace my original copy.

I was very happy to see the Maria Scenario but I wish there had been more. I was really looking forward to seeing what happened to her during the times she was separated from James (hospital, whole time from stabbing death until Pyramid Heads) but it wasn't there.

What was there was interesting enough and gave a little bit more insight into how Maria "evolved" into the character we know.

Do you think Konami should and/or should have explore/d this further?

  Three Voices
Posted by: Maria - 03-13-2024, 07:53 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 3 - Replies (3)

So... in the song Rain of Brain Petals with the three voices edited in.. who are they? Is there a commonly accepted idea of who's who or should I be asking who do you guys think they are.

just FYI:

i am the first
a shadow at the end
of the hallway
i spin the carousel
the laughter recedes away
my finger on your lips
i stole something precious

i am the second
alone in a faceless crowd
a human caught
in monochrome dreams
i scream to wake up
my voice drowns deep underground
only the dead can hear me,
see me

i am the third
a master
a sentinel of awakeness
i hold truth like a torch
shadows flicker before me
rapid eye follow the
chain of thought
until the silence ends

What did you think about The Evil Within?
Posted by: Yana - 03-13-2024, 02:50 AM - Forum: Survival Horror Forum - Replies (1)

I've had this one laying around for years but I finally got around to playing through it this week and I absolutely loved it!

Basically felt like a mash-up of Resident Evil 4, The Last of Us, and Silent Hill 2. I went into it with no expectations (I totally forgot that it was a Shinji Mikami game  Blush ) and I was pretty blown away. As a big fan of the Silent Hill games I loved the whole psychological horror vibe the game had. My only complaints really were that it felt a little too long and some parts were really hard.

Really looking forward to checking out the second game now! (After I finish the DLC for this one)

So what's your opinion on The Evil Within?

  Boston Stranglings Connection?
Posted by: shootzombies - 03-12-2024, 05:47 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 4 - Replies (2)

I have been looking at a book called A Death in Belmont and its about the Boston stranglings, anyway I never really knew anything about the case before I looked at the book. Loooking at the book though I found out that the Boston Stranglers name was Albert Desalvo. So what does this have to do with SH4 you ask? Well lets think about this; in SH4 there was a character named Andrew Desalvo (sounds familiar right?). Anyway, considering that SH4 was about a serial killer named Walter Sullivan, maybe Team Silent put the character of Andrew Desalvo in there as a reference to the Boston Stranglings? Its a very interesting connection and it doesn't seem very far-fetched at all.

So anyway what's your opinion on this?

"They look like monsters to you?"
Posted by: question? - 03-09-2024, 09:57 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 3 - Replies (8)

What do you think it means when Vincent says to Heather, "They look like monsters to you?"
If it's a joke as Vincent says, it's an odd one.

Here is a trancript of the exchange from Gamefaqs:

Vincent: Don’t stand there looking so smug.

Vincent: You’re the worst person in this room.

Vincent: You come here and enjoy spilling their
blood and listening to them cry out.

Vincent: You feel excited when you step on them,
snuffing out their lives.

Heather: Are you talking about the monsters?

Vincent: Monsters...?

Vincent: They look like monsters to you?

*Heather gasps.*

Vincent: Don’t worry, it’s just a joke.

  Stanley's Diary (spoilers)
Posted by: Lobsel_Vith - 03-07-2024, 09:35 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 3 - Replies (3)

Just as with Alessa's diary, Stanley's diary also holds some complex mysteries.

From when did Stanley know Alessa? By reading the diary he makes it very clear that he and Alessa once knew each other.

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY: 1

This day has finally come.
That's right --- the day when you and I will meet.

I was always thinking of you, here in this gloomy cell.
I never even knew your name or face until today.

But now I know. I know you're the one I've
been waiting for.
And haven't you been waiting for me too?
Thats why you came to rescue me.

Oh, how I love you Heather.

I want to give you my prized doll, I made it to
commemorate our meeting,
the start of this everlasting love.
Ah, I can already see your smiling face.

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (2)

You may not yet of realized your own feelings.
But you sense them unconsciously.
And so you're trying to get closer to me.
That's a virtue, that path to Paradise.

If the door's locked, open it. Use the password for
the prison gates. Doctor.... I've forgotten
his name. Anyway, that quack has it posted. He should
be here, too. I mean, 4 numbers would've been good enough,
but he kept on going.

Isn't it a shame? I'm not there. Aren't you irritated?
I long for you, but you're so cruel.
Still, I want you Heather.

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (3)

The organization has me shut up in here. They mean to
break my will, to make me forget about all that.
But I'll stay sane even if they throw me in here with
lunatics. How about if I stick this to the wall?
That would be worthless.
You can peel it off, can't you, with that junk those
nasty wenches wont stop using.
If a thing has no meaning there's no reason for it
to exist at all. Just as you exist for me.
But why haven't you taken my doll with you?
Ah, my gift must've embarrassed you.
How cute you are, Heather!

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (4)

Flowing feely, your ebony hair. Like the night sky,
seatting fragrance,
my heart, clamoring in my chest.
Like a storm you trifle with it, your pristine glance.
Like a feast, when you smile my thoughts, disturbed,
my breath like opium, it drives me mad.......
Eric, a great poet who conveys my feelings so well.
I shouldn't have let this place get to me, should never
have gone crazy.
But it's superbly enjoyable to drown in my love for you.
But why won't you accept proof of my love?
Don't stand on ceremony now.
After all, you and I exist as one.
What I give to you is the same as what I give to me.

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (5)

There was a tattooed guy on that rumpled bed.
Not anymore though.
That alarm clock and filthy bag are his.
Ah, but don't misunderstand. I haven't done a thing.
I didn't hate him, though he was a liar.
Shall I write something of my own?
On my chest, since I can't cut it open to show you my heart.
" I love Heather"
No, something a bit more forceful.
"I love Heather" isn't enough for what I feel.
Oh, what tender emotion this image brings.

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (6)

Heather, my most sacred lover. I'm always watching you.
No matter where you are or what you may be doing,
I have never lost sight of you.
I know you feel intensely lonely.
Yet with a single key to this door, those feelings won't stand in
the way any longer.
We haven't been able to see each other for so long.
Be patient --- it's just a little longer.
I'll be patient, too, even though I long to hold you in
these hands of mine.
The key is behind the shelves in the underground garage.
Why there?
Ask that idiot doctor.
Theres not a single person here who's right in the head.
Not just in this hospital --- I mean in all of Silent Hill.

Except me.

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (7)

I also like the rooftop.
It makes me want to fly.
You too?

Stanley Coleman

STANLEY COLEMAN'S DIARY (Cool

Goodbye, Heather.
I'm sorry, I wasn't able to respond to your love.
It's all over.
Leonard despises me --- because I made fun of it,
saying it would come to this.
If it weren't for his meddling, I would have been able
to meet you in just a little while.
Then I could of taken you to my world.
A world for us alone, more beautiful than this one.
And I had been waiting for this day, for today.
The day I'd see you, the day you'd save me.
Today.
Heather, watch out for him. Leonard is no ordinary guy.
Farewell, I love you.
Heather, my Goddess
Heather, my lover
Heather, my.......

All the italicized parts suggest that Stanley and Alessa knew each other at one point.

What's perplexing are the various marriage tones to that diary. For example.

You may not yet of realized your own feelings.
But you sense them unconsciously.
And so you're trying to get closer to me.
That's a virtue, that path to Paradise.

He seems to be talking to Heather, telling her that the Alessa part of her needs to come out.

If a thing has no meaning there's no reason for it
to exist at all. Just as you exist for me.

This next part depending on your views could be a bit iffy. Some men especially back in the old times had the attitude that their wives existed only for them.

Flowing freely, your ebony hair. Like the night sky,

Heather has blonde hair (dyed), her hair is short. Stanley is describing a girl with long black hair.

Don't stand on ceremony now.
After all, you and I exist as one.
What I give to you is the same as what I give to me.

In some religions, especially the more Christian religions they believe that when a man and woman are married they become one. If this and that entry are any indication then at some point Stanley and Alessa (in a past life) were once married.

In that entry alone are at least 3 indications that at some point Alessa and Stanley knew each other, that they were once Sacred Lovers.

He also says that he's the only sane one in the town. He's right!

So what is up with this diary? In the normal world this would be some insane man, but Silent Hill isn't normal. For one thing we have seen a girl (Alessa) who has been reborn two times that we know of. The first as Cheryl, and then as Heather. Not to mention the possibility that she's also the one who offered the reed to the sun.

Now is it any shocker that I think Stanley could be the reincarnation of the man who offered the serpent?

Given the tone of the diary it sounds rather sexual in nature at some parts. However it would be impossible for Stan and Alessa to ever have had relations due to the following.

1. Alessa was still rather bandaged up and kept a secret from the public.
So there's no way that Stan would have ever seen Alessa during her 1972-1986 incarnation

Also shallow as all hell, but look at these two pictures.

Is it just or me or do the women in the paintings look very very similar?

Same hair color and style
Same expression
Same style of clothing almost
Same face structure

(possibly the most shallow)

Look at the shoulder that's showing. Both women have a red strap showing.

Hmm...

Any thoughts?

  Walter Sullivan=Killer Bob?
Posted by: mrpaku - 03-07-2024, 03:30 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 4 - Replies (5)

I run across very few people who actually enjoyed the fourth game (in the context of a SH game, anyways) and I figure since I did, I might as well be the first to post on here Smile

My question is in regards to the oft-seen connection between the Silent Hill games and the short lived David Lynch series, Twin Peaks, two things which, as an aspiring writer to this kind of thing, I find myself extremely fascinated with.

To those with an extensive knowledge of both series'; does anyone see any major connections between the spirit of Killer Bob from Twin Peaks and the spirit of Walter Sullivan? I mean, serious connections, to the point of where I think we can get a theory off the ground that Walter may actually be at least partially based off of Bob! I'm sort of working out the kinks in my own theory to this now, but some of the notable coincidences include:

-Mass Murderers
-Travel effortlessly between the real world and their own alternate realm
-Actually spirits
-Capable of possession
-particular attraction/connection to certain women
-solid split between good/evil in the form of doppelgangers

I figure even if it's not enough to build a solid case between the two characters, at least it might get people interested in debate.

Which Silent Hill 4 ending is the true ending?
Posted by: mrpaku - 03-06-2024, 06:47 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 4 - Replies (13)

Because hey, why not?

Which one do you think actually happened? I'm aware that none of them can be proven as the correct one yet, but I'd be interested to see which one you thought the most likely, why, and what your choice might mean for future games. Granted, it'd probably be awhile before you find out if you're right or not (people are still debating the end to SH2!) but if you do end up being proven right by information from a future game, that's got to be bragging rights, huh?

  Two mysterious figures...
Posted by: Conjurer - 03-04-2024, 08:10 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 1 - Replies (7)

Does anyone ever wonder who those two unknown men were in the hospital scene that talked about the God in Alessa's womb? For sake of discussion..

Dahlia: Everything is going according to plan, sheltered in the womb
Man #1: But it's not done yet. Half the soul is lost. That is why the seed lies dormant.
Man #2: And what soul remains captured in that Husk. Is buried deep down in the subconscious
Kaufmann: Are you trying to say it won’t work? That wasn't our agreement!
Dahlia: No, No these are just stalling tactics. If we lend a hand we will be able to get power. Never fear the promise shall not be broken.
Man #1: But the power we can draw now will be very weak. Almost nothing. Unless we get the other half of the soul.
Dahlia: We'll use a magical spell. Sealing the child's pain is sure to come.
Man #2: But that will take time.

These guys obviously know alot about the means to summon God, almost experts, I highly doubt they are just random men pulled from the Holy Women Sect. Wait...men?

  Sewer area, monster under bridge
Posted by: =AoD= Captain - 03-02-2024, 09:09 AM - Forum: Silent Hill 3 - Replies (12)

We all should know this part in SH3, what I would like to know though is...

Has anyone here gotten the hidden secret to work where you stand at the edge before zapping the monster, examine the water, throw in your pipe, and get the fairy to appear and give you the gold and silver pipes? I have never even gotten a prompt to examine the water and have tried for an hour on end.

Is it just not possible in the PC version?
