Which Silent Hill 4 ending is the true ending?
#1
Because hey, why not?

Which one do you think actually happened? I'm aware that none of them can be proven as the correct one yet, but I'd be interested to see which one you thought the most likely, why, and what your choice might mean for future games. Granted, it'd probably be awhile before you find out if you're right or not (people are still debating the end to SH2!) but if you do end up being proven right by information from a future game, that's got to be bragging rights, huh?

Out of all the endings I would pick "21 Sacraments".

Walter is still at large! I think that leave a really big opening for a future game. He completed the 21 Sacraments, will that bring forth a new god? Then again, he has his "Mother" so maybe he'll just stay in the appartment...

Or "Mother" possibly.

Both Elieen and Henry survive. It starts off like "Escape" only at the very end you see the ruined apartment. As if the hauntings are continuing there. It seemed to me that bad things could continue to happen to the characters there. But that really doesn't seem like much of a game does it?

I'm kind of hoping 21 Sacraments is correct myself. Walter Sullivan was the heart, soul, and mummified corpse of SH4, and probably one of the more interesting seriously disturbed character of the series. Although I don't know if they could play back to the Walter situation in any feasible capacity if he DID triumph in completing the sacraments, I'd be interested to see him in the series again.

I loved Walter, both crazy and child. It would have been cool if we saw mentions of him in the earlier games. But I did get a kick out of seeing different mentions of Alyssa.

Since he did the 21 Sacraments would the God come back?

Walter was mentioned in V.2, in the newspaper article James finds in the apartments in the trash bag.

I had the transcript of it, but not on me. I will look for it again. Smile

Really? Wow, I must have missed that. If you find it again, could you send it to me?

Here it is, straight from the game and transcribed by myself. Smile

In the trash chute, James find the Old Man coin and a gossip magazine. Gossip magazine reads:

Quote:"The police announced today that Walter Sullivan, who was arrested on the 18th of this month for the brutal murder of Billy Locane and his sister Miriam, committed suicide in his jail cell early on the morning of the 22nd.

According to the police statement, Sullivan used a soup spoon to stab himself in the neck, severing his carotid artery. By the time the guard discovered him, Sullivan was dead from blood loss, the spoon buried two inches in his neck.

An old schoolmate of Walter Sullivan's from his hometown of Pleasant River said "He didn't look like the type of guy who would kill kids.

But I do remember that just before they arrested him he was blurting out all sorts of strange stuff like 'He's trying to kill me. He's trying to punish me. The monster... the red devil. Forgive me. I did it, but it wasn't me!'."

The schoolmate then added "I guess now that I think of it, he was kinda crazy."

That last part is the best. But thanks!

I would like to think it was "mother"

It could put Eileen and Henry in another game, even if Walter is not. It wouldn't necessarily have to do with the hauntings, but that ending implies that the alternate universe is still present in their lives.

Maybe they could have a nice meeting with Heather as a villain or something. After all, the 21 sacraments was created in favor of the still unperfected god. That could definitely link the game into the main series that 1 and 3 were part of.

I really have no idea, that's just what I would like.

I wouldn't want the 21 Sacraments ending to happen but I think it suits the theme of Silent Hill and of course, it sets a course for a nice sequel like someone else said. The ending where Eileen dies is pretty good too. He defeated the evil, but couldn't save the one he most cared about.
