Does Silent Hill actually exist in the material world?
#1
Do you guys think that Silent Hill is an actual place or just a place that exists whenever someone is called there? I think that its an actual place that turns into hell for those who are called there. What do you guys believe it is?

I think I talked about this in another thread, but I'll be brief. I believe that while Silent Hill exists in the real world, the Silent Hill we see does not. It's my belief that there are three Silent Hills, a real one inhabited by normal people who are going about their everyday lives, and the Foggy and Alternate Silent Hills. I think our heroes have been brought into this "other" Silent Hill, existing on a separate plane than the real citizens. I also have a theory that they may only perceive these other planes, and they are actually functioning in the real world, just killing normal people. This might, however, only be true in Silent Hill 2. I have some evidence to back up that second theory, which I'll go into if anyone wants me too.

Your statement uber is also proved in SH3. When Heather says something like "you mean those monsters?" and Vincent replies "They look like monsters to you?" In SH3 they show that the monsters you are fighting are not really monsters but regular people (perhaps cult members) who are perceived differently by the characters. It just goes to show you how deep the whole story of Silent Hill truly is.
