The Mall
#1
Anyone else wish they would have expanded upon the mall in Silent Hill 1? I thought it was an ingenious move to include it in the game.

It is almost a tribute to George A. Romero and Dawn of the Dead, where Romero makes commentary about society from within a mall.

I think that, like Silent Hill 3, it could have been an even more amazing place to explore and create some truly horrific sequences.

Yeah, on my recent playthrough (For the first time in nearly 6 years) I realized how ridiculously small it was. They could have expanded it greatly. Perhaps in a GC-esque remake, they could make it bigger. And that larva could've been made much cooler as well.

It's small but it wasn't really a key element of the game so I can forgive them for not expanding it.

OOoooOOoOOOO... So many memories! I loved the short mall section in SH 1. The TVs and cheryl on them. Creepy! That would have been an awesome thing to expand. When i first played SH1 and got to that sub-level i was like OMG, i seriously don't want go through this.

I remember thinking about the indoors music from the SNES game Jurassic Park. If any of you have played it, it was a creepy tune.

I kept imagining myself stomping around the sublevel of the mall with that creepy tune in my ears. And hoping I wouldn't get attacked by any velociraptors.
