Here's an opinion in response to your post. I believe they took the Maria story as far as they could go in her scenario. The reason it didn't show what happened after her and james split up is because there was nothing to show. Because she was created only for james, she was only there for james. Once she was run through by the pyramid head and james left, that was it until she was needed again. Although that then doesn't fit with her having her own scenario at the start, so maybe I'm just talking out of my ass. You decide.
