My theory is that V.2 and V.4 are more linked then people think.
I believe that Neely's bar was a portal for the reporter who lived in the apartment before Henry and that the reporter left the message of there being a hole there.
As well, during V.2 James jumps down many holes (mainly in the prison) as an allude to his descent into madness. V.4 sees Henry jumping through holes to stop the madness of a character introduced in V.2.
